Equipment, Clothing and Safety

No construction experience is necessary!

Times to volunteer: Tuesday thru Saturday, 8:30AM-5:00PM

Equipment To Bring: First Christian Church provides all the tools needed. If you have tools you prefer using you are more than welcome to bring them. Water is provided throughout the day as well.

Clothing and Safety:

• A hat, old shirt, and old jeans or shorts. covered foot wear. For safety reasons, no sandals or open-toed shoes are allowed.
• Dress in layers on chillier winter days. Cool mornings often turn into warm afternoons.
• Wear gardening/work gloves if possible.
• On hot, sunny days, get in the shade every half hour. Wear light-colored clothing. Wear sunscreen and reapply as often as necessary.
• Stay hydrated! Drink plenty of water or sport drinks.
• Do not put hammers in back pockets.
• Wear safety glasses (provided at worksite) when using or are around electrical equipment.
• If you are uncomfortable about completing a task, let the construction supervisor know so we can find an alternative task for you to complete.
